Pelsall Cricket Club

Pelsall Cricket Club was formed in 1885, formerly known as Pelsall Albion Cricket Club

It wasn't unitl 1947 the club played it's first game at 'The Bush', having played at a number of cricket grounds witn the Pelsall area since the club's formation. It was in the early 1950's that Pelsall became a multi-sports club, with Cricket on Saturdays, Sundays and midweek, and Football teams participating in the Staffs County League & Bloxwich Combination.

On the 19th June 1965, a new clubhouse, which consisted of a Main Bar, Kitchen, Dressing Rooms and showers was officially opened with a game against an MCC XI. And in 1969, an extension was built to offer the members of the club extra room and the attraction of more.

In 1975 , Pelsall entered two teams into the Wolverhampton & District Cricket League, which increased the standard of play that the club was playing at the time, with the first major achievement coming in 1976 with the 1st team fininshing 3rd in the league, and winning the Cannock Mid-Week league for the 3rd year in a row.

In 1980, a youth team joined the Walsall Youth Cricket Association at Under 15 & Under 18 level, and the set up of these teams benefited the club because by 1982, a 3rd Team was playing regular Saturday games, increasing the size of the club and adding a depth of selection previously unseen at Pelsall.

To celebrate the clubs centenary, Pelsall played Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club which consisted of England players such as Clive Rice, Eddie Hemmings, Derek Randall, Tim Robinson and New Zealand all-rounder Richard Hadlee.

In recent years the club's success was recognised when they were invited to join the extended version of the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League. The club's biggest Birmingham League success came in 2003 when the 1st XI gained access to the 2nd Division when divisions 2 east and west were combined to make divisions 2 and 3.
